The California Speech-Language Hearing Association (CSHA) is taking an active role in statewide advocacy. The CSHA Legislative Delegates Program organizes representatives from the speech, hearing and audiology community, matching them with legislators representing the district in which the delegate lives, and guiding delegates in the process of advancing the messages and priorities of California’s speech and hearing community. CSHA is seeking SLPs, SLPAs, students, and others passionate about protecting the interests of speech pathologists in California.
CSHA Legislative Delegates will receive the tools and training necessary to become effective legislative advocates. Resources will include a recorded video presentation that can be viewed at the delegate’s leisure covering the basics of advocacy, periodic live online trainings addressing current issues and messages, and handouts detailing CSHA’s messages and positions on key public policy issues.
Delegates have the opportunity to win the CSHA Legislative Delegate of the Year Award, which honors individual delegates who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and engagement in advocacy through outreach and relationship development with a member of the California legislature.
