Human Lives. Human Connection.
We are CSHA.
Communication. It’s the foundation of all human relationships — a need we’re born wishing to fulfill. Without it, we live isolated, misunderstood, alone. It’s how we share ideas, emotions and feelings. It’s how we touch each other’s lives. It’s how we connect.
And for over half a century, communication has been the lifework of the California Speech Language Hearing Association (CSHA). At CSHA, we change lives by helping people communicate better.
Formed in 1965, CSHA represents California’s expert leaders in communication, cognition, hearing and swallowing. We are speech-language pathologists, speech-language pathology assistants, audiologists and aspiring future professionals who have grown into a 3,000-strong movement.
We’re change agents within our community, providing evidence-based leadership in professional practice, strategic advocacy, thought leadership and inter-professional collaboration.
And we’re world-changers for consumers — those with speech and hearing challenges, those who have experienced a stroke, those recovering from a traumatic head injury — and for the families who love and support them.
We work in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation care centers and private practice, and always with this aim: supporting quality of life and human connection.
We envision a world where all people are empowered with the fundamental human right to engage and connect. And we’re passionate about realizing that vision in every life.
At CSHA, we’re dedicated to improving our work, our profession, our community, and the capacity of each consumer, each person, each family to connect and communicate.
Communication is the humanity inside us reaching out.
At CSHA, supporting that fundamental human connection is what we do.
